About
Compulsive, obsessive personality with geek tenancies!
Used to be a prolific mobile phone owner until I bought and fell in love with my iPhone 3GS – now I need look no further, I have the perfect phone, for now at least! Have been considering an iPad which would be fantastic for comic book reading and anime watching, but they’re just so expensive!
I’ve been a regular comic book reader for a few years now and my reading list increases every month. Hey, it’ not my fault – there are so many great artists and writers putting out great titles that it’d be rude not to read them. My love of Marvel comics kicked off with the Civil War storyline and I’ve been a fan of the ongoing universe ever since. My favourite character has always been Iron Man and I was pleased when the films were announced, and even happier with the result.
Vertigo publish a lot of my favourite comics past and present, such as Fables, Y: The Last Man, DMZ and Preacher, which was the first non-Marvel series I read. My current reading list can be found here.
Have recently (early June as of writing this) discovered a liking for manga which was kicked off by the awesome One Piece. You can read a bit more about the first step on my manga journey in this blog’s first post, which is here. Follow the progress of this journey by continuing to read this blog – see, I’m making it easy for you!
I have also recently found the One Piece anime series which was very good, from the limit bit I saw. There maybe more anime thoughts to come, and as always, any recommendations are welcome. Not too much violence though!
Away from the comic/manga/anime world, I love gadgets, technology and the web, Formula 1 (McLaren and Lewis Hamilton fan – here, another blog: McLaren Fan Blog), Disney, rock music (Bon Jovi for the last 25+ years and more recently 30 seconds To Mars) and World’s Strongest Man (Want another blog to read? Try this) – something I’ve been watching for over 30 years. I can hear you asking, and the answer is that I think Jón Páll Sigmarsson is the greatest of all time – the ultimate combination of strength, athleticism and entertainment.
I am also a keen, but very amateur photographer. My current camera of choice is a Panasonic FZ38 which I bought in early July to take over from the Sony A300 DSLR camera which I sold on. I’ll return to DSLR photography one day, but for now I don’t have the time or money to give it the attention I’d like to, especially as I have a bug interest in macro photography and those lenses don’t come cheap!
I’m always keen to learn so if anyone ever has any tips, then please, feel free to leave me a comment and impress your wisdom upon myself. Also, if you have a photography website or a Flickr account then leave me a comment with the URL as I love looking at photos people have taken and take inspiration from them.
There’s probably more I could say, and I will add more in the time. In the meantime I hope you enjoy what you see and I love feedback so leave a comment, however big or small. See you on the flipside…
Steve
